Class Descriptions


 

Ashtanga: 

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, usually referred to in the West as “power yoga”, emphasizes Vinyasa, or breath-synchronized movement, combining a progressive series of postures with deep breathing called “ujayyi pranayama”. The Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga system places equal emphasis on strength, flexibility and stamina, and is thus one of the more challenging types of yoga.  This  70 minute class will prepare students for the full Primary Series and is often fast paced and more physically challenging. This class is for the intermediate & advanced student.

 

Deep Stretch:

This class is perfect for all levels because students are each tight in different areas of the body and have different tension thresholds.  Postures are designed to get to the deeply rooted sources of tension within all the major areas of the body fused with breathing and meditation which allow the opening to occur.  Students will leave feeling revitalized, rejuvenated and physically lighter as you exhale stress and tension.  Classes are suitable for all levels. 

 

Power Yoga:

“Vinyasa” yoga is a mindful flow from one posture (asana) to the next linked with deep “ujayyi pranayama” breathing. This heated rigorous power flow class is fun, fast paced, physically challenging and will make you sweat.  Classes are designed for the fit intermediate and advanced student.

 

Restorative Yoga:

 This is a gentle, therapeutic style of yoga that uses props to     support the body to deepen the benefits of the pose. It is a soothing and nurturing practice that promotes the effects of conscience relaxation. Classes are suitable for all levels. 

 

Soft Yoga:

This wonderful class is a gentle approach to yoga perfect for beginners, seniors, students with physical limitations or injuries or any yoga student wanting a great way to de-stress after a long day.  Emphasis is placed on breathing and mindful opening and listening to our bodies.  Classes are geared for beginners but are suitable for all levels.

  

Yoga Mix:

These mixed level yoga classes offer something for everyone and are perfect for the yogi who likes variety in their practice.  Each class is unique, incorporating a blend of yoga styles to open the body and release tension and stress.  The class includes meditation, breathing, and postures for increasing strength and flexibility. Students are encouraged to go at their own pace as multiple modifications are shown (including more difficult variations for the intermediate and advanced students). Classes are suitable for all levels. 

 

Yoga Jam:

Start off the weekend with a blast. An eclectic flow of postures mixed with up-beat energetic music, this non-traditional yoga class is a fun way to exhale the week and welcome the weekend.  Classes are designed for the fit intermediate and advanced student.

 

Vinyasa Flow:

Vinyasa yoga with a creative twist, this is a slightly softer version of Power Yoga. During this beautiful and meditative class, students flow in and out of postures while moving to the rhythm of their breath.  Some parts of class can be a little challenging, but the classes are suitable for all levels.

  


NOTES:
Beginners: Not sure where to start? Try Deep Stretch, Soft Yoga or private Instruction. Once you have tried a few of these more mellow classes first, feel free to safely integrate yourself into any of the other classes of your choice.

*All classes are 70 minutes.

Private instruction is highly valuable for the beginner to the advanced yoga student. These consultations allow the session to be catered to the needs of the particular student and allow the student to work on his or her personal goals.

Private instruction is especially recommended for the beginner, serious practitioner, any student with specific health concerns, back or joint pain, therapeutic pain management applications, or the student who wants a more rapid advancement in their personal yoga practice.
