Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga forms the foundation of most yoga styles practiced today. In our Hatha classes, you'll learn fundamental yoga poses (asanas) held for several breaths, allowing time to focus on proper alignment, breath awareness, and the integration of body and mind. This methodical, mindful approach makes Hatha ideal for beginners while offering depth for more experienced practitioners.

Each class typically includes gentle warm-up movements, a sequence of standing and seated poses, breathing exercises (pranayama), and a final relaxation period (savasana). The slower pace allows instructors to provide detailed guidance on alignment and modifications, ensuring you develop a safe, sustainable practice.

Benefits:

  • Improved flexibility and strength
  • Better posture and body awareness
  • Stress reduction and mental clarity
  • Foundation for other yoga styles

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa Flow, sometimes called "flow yoga," links breath with movement in a dynamic, flowing sequence. Unlike the held poses of Hatha, Vinyasa classes move continuously from one pose to the next, creating a moving meditation that builds heat, strength, and cardiovascular fitness while maintaining yoga's mindful, breath-centered approach.

In our Vinyasa classes, you'll typically begin with sun salutations to warm the body, then progress through sequences that creatively combine standing poses, balances, backbends, twists, and inversions. The continuous movement challenges your body while the breath-movement connection keeps your mind focused in the present moment.

Benefits:

  • Cardiovascular fitness and calorie burning
  • Increased strength and endurance
  • Enhanced flexibility and range of motion
  • Improved focus and mind-body connection

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is the ultimate practice for deep relaxation, stress relief, and nervous system healing. In this gentle practice, you'll move through just a handful of poses during the entire class, supported fully by bolsters, blankets, blocks, and other props that allow your body to completely relax into each position.

Poses are typically held for 5-15 minutes, giving your body time to release deeply held tension and your nervous system time to shift from sympathetic (fight-or-flight) to parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) mode. This activation of the relaxation response provides profound healing benefits, from improved sleep to better digestion to enhanced immune function.

The deep parasympathetic state achieved in Restorative Yoga creates optimal conditions for the body's natural healing and regeneration processes. Research suggests that this state supports tissue repair, reduces inflammatory markers, and optimizes cellular recovery—making restorative practice an excellent complement to more active yoga styles and other physical activities.

Benefits:

  • Deep stress relief and relaxation
  • Nervous system regulation and healing
  • Better sleep quality
  • Recovery from injury or illness

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga targets the deep connective tissues—fascia, ligaments, and joints—rather than the muscles emphasized in more active yoga styles. Poses are held passively for 3-5 minutes or longer, allowing gravity and time to gently stress these deeper tissues, improving flexibility and joint mobility in ways that dynamic movement cannot achieve.

This meditative practice requires patience and presence. As you settle into each pose, you'll learn to observe physical sensations, thoughts, and emotions that arise without reacting to them—a powerful form of mindfulness training that extends beyond the mat into daily life.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga offers all the benefits of yoga in an accessible, slower-paced format perfect for beginners, seniors, those managing chronic conditions, or anyone seeking a softer practice. Classes focus on simple movements, basic poses, breathwork, and relaxation, with an emphasis on what feels good in your body rather than achieving specific postures.

Despite the gentler approach, you'll still experience yoga's many benefits: improved flexibility, better balance and coordination, stress reduction, and enhanced body awareness.

Power Yoga

Power Yoga delivers an intense, fitness-focused workout while maintaining yoga's mindful, breath-centered approach. Drawing from the Ashtanga tradition, Power Yoga classes feature strong, dynamic sequences that build serious strength, endurance, and flexibility. Expect challenging poses, arm balances, inversions, and continuous movement that will leave you energized and accomplished.

These classes move at a faster pace with less detailed instruction, assuming students have a solid foundation in basic poses and transitions.
